Fixture | Blackpool vs Oldham Athletic – Date | 26 August 2017 – Venue | Bloomfield Road
Looking to build on a promising start to the League One campaign, Blackpool will target a second home win when Oldham Athletic visit on Saturday.
The Seasiders saw off MK Dons at Bloomfield Road a fortnight ago and showcased their ability to compete at this level further in a 3-3 draw at Doncaster Rovers.
Four points from nine represents a reasonable start for Gary Bowyer’s side and, with back-to-back home games in League One on the agenda, he’ll be hoping it further improves.
Oldham Athletic arrive fresh from embarking on their 21st consecutive season at this level but they’re yet to register a point so far, so will arrive keen to get off the mark.
The Seasiders scored three brilliant goals last weekend courtesy of Sean Longstaff, Ollie Turton and Callum Cooke, but it was enough for just a point at Doncaster. Previously Longstaff was on target in the victory over MK Dons, after a narrow opening day defeat at Bradford City.
Oldham have lost all three of their League One fixtures so far and have netted just once to date. An opening day loss to Oxford United was followed up by a 2-1 reverse at Walsall and a home defeat to Wigan Athletic a week ago at Boundary Park.
Mark Cullen is Blackpool’s only fresh absentee after a hamstring injury cut his afternoon short at the Keepmoat Stadium last weekend. Jim McAlister is Pool’s only other man missing, but is recovering well.
Oldham are sweating on the fitness of Paul Green, Ryan Flynn, Craig Davies and Tope Obadeyi, after all four missed last weekend’s Wigan defeat with niggles.
