Kyle Vassell is delighted to be off the mark for the season and hopes his goal against Oldham Athletic will be the first of many.
The striker, who hit 13 goals last season, fired the crucial second during Saturday’s win and was in good spirit post-match.
“I’m delighted to be up and running,” he said. “I set Bright and wanted it to feet, but Bright saw something different and I’m buzzing he did because he rolled me in and I caught the goalkeeper out.
“I just tried to get anything on the ball and managed to get a toe on it.”
The Seasiders played some brilliant football in the opening half and showed their resilience after the break, which Vassell believes could be key this season.
“The first-half was great, the second was a bit of a grind, but we saw it out well and we’re buzzing.
“It happens in football and will happen over the season, having to see out games the ugly way.
“We’ve got to win our home games, as many as we can, and do what we can on the road and we’ll see where we end up,” he added.
