Gary Bowyer says the handing out of gifts to Blackpool fans at Charlton Athletic yesterday was a way of saying ‘thank-you’.
The manager, quick to acknowledge the financial commitment and travel involved to attend the match just before Christmas, went over to the supporters with tangerine Santa hats prior to kick-off, while the players chucked signed shirts into the crowd.
“It was just a way of thanking them for all their efforts,” Bowyer explained. “I went into the club shop and just got some hats, which were a little bit of fun and just to say thank you very much. We also got some signed shirts and hopefully the players gave them to little kids that come to watch us.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our supporters a Happy Christmas and thank them for their ongoing support of the players, coaching staff and myself.”
