Kelvin Mellor has been pleased with his ‘best run’ of goalscoring form, though he’s determined to get more reward for his efforts.
The right-back has scored in three consecutive matches for Blackpool, having previously hit seven in his debut season at Bloomfield Road.
“I think it is the best run I’ve had. It’s been nice to get on the score-sheet and I just hope it keeps going,” he said.
“I’m just fortunate that I’ve been on the end of a few balls at the minute and they’ve been going in for me.”
Two of Mellor’s efforts have unfortunately come in defeats for The Seasiders, with the latest one against Rotherham leaving a lot of frustration.
“Everyone was gutted after the amount of hard work that we’d put in. We weren’t aggressive enough in neither box really and that’s what we need to be doing now. We’ve gone through it this week, we’ve had meetings and we all need to work hard and help each other out more.”
The next task sees Blackpool face Shrewsbury Town tomorrow, with places up for grabs due to a couple of injuries.
“They’ve had a great start to the season and nobody expected them to be up there that high. They’re a good side and it will be a good test for us.
“We’ve got a few injuries at the minute and it is tough to take, but the lads who are coming in have got to step up and take their chance,” Mellor added.
