Pool Head To Devon
Fixture | Exeter City vs Blackpool
Date | 25 February 2017
Venue | St James Park
There’s another big game on the agenda for Blackpool, who travel to St James Park looking to reignite their charge towards the play-offs.
The Seasiders dropped points against Crewe Alexandra last weekend, but still moved to within five points of the top seven in League Two.
Consistency has been missing in recent weeks, but the victory over Carlisle United at Brunton Park showcased Pool’s capabilities on the road.
Now they’ll look for a repeat performance against an Exeter City team who propelled themselves into the play-offs with a brilliant run over the winter months.
Nathan Delfouneso and Tom Aldred were on target against Crewe, but Pool were forced to settle for a point. Recent away games have brought a victory at Carlisle and 2-0 defeat at Portsmouth.
Exeter themselves were forced to settle for a point against Stevenage last weekend, with Reuben Reid on target for The Grecians. They’re without a win in three, but drew with Notts County the previous Tuesday.
Aldred serves the first of his two-match suspension after picking up his tenth booking of the season last weekend. Ian Black is in line to make his Blackpool debut after joining the club until the end of the season. Kyle Vassell is expected to be fit, while The Seasiders are nursing a number of other knocks. Jim McAlister and Neil Danns remain out.
Exeter received a boost this week, with Christy Pym, Robbie Simpson and Jake Taylor returning to fitness in time for the game. Lee Holmes and Tom McCready are their only absentees.
