Striker After Exeter Draw
Jamille Matt says the time for talking is over and Blackpool now need to start seeing out games if they’re to mount a play-off charge.
The Seasiders let a two-goal lead slip for the second week running against Exeter City, to leave themselves seven points from seventh spot.
With the potential clear in Pool’s impressive first-half showing, Matt knows they must learn from their mistakes, and quickly.
“Everyone’s hurting because we should have six points from the last two games,” he explained. “We’ve spoken amongst ourselves and everyone’s gutted.
“From the outside in it looks like points gained, but within ourselves, knowing the quality in the dressing room, we think they should be wins.
“We should be a lot higher up the league than we are, but we can’t keep saying it because it’s been said so many times, we draw the line and have got to do it.”
Exeter’s equaliser came in injury time at St James Park, which frustrated Matt after Pool had contained their hosts for the entire half prior to that.
“I thought we looked comfortable. They resulted, in a way, to playing over the top, but you can’t switch off in this game and it cost us.
“We’ve got to put the pressure on ourselves because all we want to do it get up the table, we’ve got to stop talking and take action.”
