Striker Back From Injury
Kyle Vassell is looking to recapture his early season form after returning from injury during last night’s draw with Crawley Town.
The club’s top scorer had sat out the previous three games with a hamstring injury, but is now looking to get back on the goal scoring trail.
“I needed the half hour to get my confidence up, so I know my body is OK,” he explained. “The Gaffer didn’t want to rush me back.
“It’s never good being injured, especially when I’d started well and had a bit of a dip, so I got injured at the worst time. I’m back now and I’ll kick on.”
He was brought off the bench but couldn’t change Pool’s fortunes as they were held to a goalless draw on home soil.
He said: “I thought we’d win from the first half hour. When we dominate games we need to start scoring, stay on top and make sure we see games out.
“It’s frustrating, but a missed penalty shouldn’t mean we don’t win the game.”
Now his focus swings to Carlisle United on Saturday, where Vassell insists Pool must kick-start their season.
“Against the bigger team this season we’ve done really well so I hope we can start on another run on Saturday,” he added.
