Manager Previews Tonight's Cup Replay
Gary Bowyer is relishing the opportunity of his side going up against Barnsley once again in tonight's Emirates FA Cup replay.
The manager wants his players to build on their strong display in the initial tie against The Tykes, as Blackpool look to reach the fourth round of the competition for the first time since 2012.
"I thought the last game was a highly entertaining 0-0. People say a 0-0 is normally a drab affair but it was anything but that, it was a proper cup tie," Bowyer said.
"We required Sam to make an excellent save at the end, but throughout the game their goalkeeper was the busier of the two, and we've got to go with the confidence that we can do that again.
"It's always going to be difficult, for sure, because they're a Championship team, but it's another opportunity for our players to test themselves at that level.
"We've had a good run so far and we've been able to take a team to a replay that is playing in a higher league than us. Hopefully we can keep the run going."
A couple of late fitness decisions will be made ahead of the manager naming his team for the match at Oakwell, but there's a real determination to progress.
"We picked up one or two injuries that we're going to have to give until the last minute, but we want to try and get through and will go as strong as we possibly can," Bowyer revealed.
One player who will definitely be available is defender Tom Aldred, having successfully appealed against the red card he received against Cambridge United on Saturday.
"It's great news on Tom. I voiced my opinions on it all on Saturday and thankfully common sense has prevailed and the lad can play in the cup tie for us. We're delighted with that," the manager added.
