FA Cup Takes Centre Stage

Fixture | Barnsley vs Blackpool
Date | 17 January 2017
Venue | Oakwell

Preview
A trip to Lancashire neighbours Blackburn Rovers is at stake for Blackpool if they can knock out Championship opposition in Barnsley at Oakwell on Tuesday.

The two sides battled out what was an entertaining contest for a 0-0 10 days ago, with both goalkeepers excelling to ensure they’ll meet again in South Yorkshire.

Both clubs are harbouring similar hopes of making the play-offs in their respective divisions, but tonight focus is on the cup and progressing into the fourth round.

Blackburn disposed of QPR in the third round and will watch the drama unfold at Oakwell with invested interest.

Recent Form
Blackpool took a point from Cambridge United at the weekend, with Sam Slocombe’s penalty save the decisive moment. That stop out meant Pool haven’t conceded a goal in four away outings.

Barnsley were beaten 2-0 at Fulham on Saturday – their first match since losing talisman Sam Winnall to Sheffield Wednesday. On home soil they last won on Boxing Day, when coincidently they saw off Blackburn.

Team News
Tom Aldred will be available for The Seasiders after his red card was rescinded on Monday. Gary Bowyer will wait on Brad Potts, who was withdrawn early on the weekend. Colin Daniel and Eddie Nolan are once again expected to miss out through injury.

For Barnsley, Andy Yiadom is on international duty at the African Cup of Nations, while Winnall has departed since the first clash and Sam Morsy opted to stay at Wigan Athletic. Winger Saidy Janko and midfielder Sessi D'Almeida remain sidelined.
