Match Preview: Blackburn Rovers (A)

27 January 2017

Pool Head To Ewood Park

Fixture | Blackburn Rovers vs Blackpool
Date | 28 January 2017
Venue | Ewood Park

The latest destination of Blackpool’s FA Cup run sees them make the short trip across Lancashire, where they’ll take on Blackburn Rovers for a place in the fifth round.

Having knocked out Kidderminster Harriers, Brackley Town and Barnsley, The Seasiders take on the Ewood Park outfit with high hopes of springing another surprise.

With sub-plots aplenty, including Gary Bowyer topping a list of former Rovers men returning to Ewood Park, The Seasiders will take heart from previously beating Championship opposition.

Blackburn saw off QPR in the third round but sit a place off bottom in The Championship, so will be looking for a positive result to carry into their league campaign.

Recent Form
Nathan Delfouneso scored in injury time to earn Blackpool a point against Yeovil Town last weekend. Their last away game resulted in a goalless draw with Cambridge United, thanks to Sam Slocombe’s penalty save.

Blackburn held Birmingham City to a draw last weekend, with Danny Graham on target for Rovers. Previously they were beaten 3-2 at Ipswich Town.

Team News
Delfouneso will sit out having already played in the FA Cup for Swindon Town this season. Sanmi Odelusi is available to play, while Bowyer hopes to have Andy Taylor back for selection. The fitness of Colin Daniel, Jack Payne, Brad Potts and Kyle Vassell will be assessed pre-match.

Ben Marshall will be left out by Owen Coyle, who is also without Charlie Mugrew, who is carrying a groin injury. Corry Evans, Tommie Hoban, Elliott Ward and Adam Henley will also miss out.
