New signing, Nick Anderton feels Blackpool are nearing full fitness, with the Sky Bet League One season just ten days away.
The full-back, who joined from Barrow in the summer, played 90 minutes along with a host of others against Chorley, with the rest of the squad getting minutes in a behind-closed-doors game on Wednesday.
And after another healthy win, Anderton was content with the shape he and his team mates are currently in.
“It’s pre-season and it’s all about getting fit,” he said. “The team switched up a bit from Saturday but it was another 90 minutes for the majority.
“With all the lads we’ve been recovering properly, getting minutes into the legs and getting work into them.”
Anderton played his part in Mark Cullen’s two second-half strikes at Victory Park and was pleased to show off his attacking capabilities.
“First and foremost is the defending but I look to get forward and pulled one back for ‘Philly’ and ‘Cully’ ended up putting it in the net.”
Ten new faces have arrived at Bloomfield Road during the close season, and following promotion in May, they’ve been welcomed with open arms, according to Anderton.
“You can see why the lads were so successful last year, the way the group is and they’ve accepted all the new lads like we’ve been here for ages.
“There’s good competition. We saw on Saturday with both teams winning, there’s two strong elevens, we play against each other in training and it’s a good squad.”
