Nathan Delfouneso was pleased to get up and running with his first goals of pre-season after hitting a hat-trick in a 7-0 victory at Radcliffe.
The forward, playing out wide, completed a treble inside 54 minutes and on another day could have added to that tally.
“I could have had a couple more but I was happy to get on the score-sheet and get some more minutes to prepare for the start of the season,” he said.
“It gives a bit of confidence putting the ball in the back of the net and hopefully I can keep improving, keep on getting fitter and keep getting into some form ready for the start.”
The game at Radcliffe was one of two fixtures on Saturday, as manager Gary Bowyer split his squad to maximise time out on the field. Delfouneso was unable to play the full 90 minutes though due to a slight injury.
“I would have loved to have had a bit longer out there but a tackle on me opened up my groins and hips a little bit. I think I’ll still be ready for Tuesday,” he confirmed.
Across the two matches eight of Blackpool’s forward options got amongst the goals on Saturday and Delfouneso has stressed the need to make an impression.
“There’s plenty of competition in the team right now, the gaffer has brought a few in so there’s a lot of competition to try and get in the team. Everyone has got to be on it, and everyone knows that. Whoever gets the shirt, it’s down to them to keep it,” he added.
