Striker Looking For More Of The Same
Striker Nathan Delfouneso hopes Blackpool can continue their impressive recent form when they face Newport County on Saturday.
The two sides sit at opposite ends of League Two but the 26-year-old believes the clash will be a tough fixture for more reasons than one.
“It’s a big game for various reasons,” Delfouneso said. “We’re looking to push into the play-offs and they’re trying to stay in the league.
“We’re taking each game as it comes, but we’re confident of putting in a good performance and we’re looking forward to the game.”
Delfouneso joined The Seasiders in a January move from Swindon Town, marking his fourth spell at the club, and has already netted four times since his arrival.
“I’m always trying to put in good performances, get some goals and make an impact, which is what I want to continue to do.
“The manager and team have been brilliant with me so I just want to pay them back and continue that good form,” he said.
Pool travel to Newport with an unbeaten run of seven matches behind them, including vital wins against promotion-chasing Plymouth Argyle and Stevenage.
As well as Delfouneso’s goals, Blackpool’s success has been aided by a resolute defence, who have kept clean sheets in their last three outings, which Delfouneso was keen to highlight.
“We always believe that we’ll score goals and create chances so if we can keep it solid at the back - and it’s not just the back four and the keeper, it’s the whole team - then we’ll be confident of winning games.
“That’s the main thing, we’ve got make sure we get the balance right and take into Saturday and hopefully win the game,” he added.
