Pool In Kenilworth Road Action
Fixture | Luton Town vs Blackpool
Date | 1 April 2017
Venue | Kenilworth Road
After weeks of edging closer to the play-offs, Blackpool now find themselves fifth and facing the challenge of staying there this weekend.
The task is a testing one given the nature of Saturday’s fixture, which comes at Luton Town, who are tied level on points with The Seasiders.
With seven games remaining, there’s still work to do, but a nine-match unbeaten run has given Gary Bowyer’s men every opportunity of extending their season.
Luton are without a win in five matches but will remain confident of finishing in the top seven, particularly having the services of 24-goal Danny Hylton.
The Seasiders came from behind to beat Hartlepool United last weekend, thanks to strikes from Bright Osayi-Samuel and Kyle Vassell. That was their third win on the spin, after they’d taken maximum points from Stevenage and Newport County.
Luton were beaten 2-1 at Colchester United last weekend, with Isaac Vassell’s strike coming too late. Prior to that they’d drawn three consecutive games against Carlisle United, Exeter City and Newport.
Bowyer confirmed Vassell came through another week’s training and is competing for a starting slot at Kenilworth Road. Jim McAlister is their only absentee through injury.
Luton are hoping leading goal scorer Hylton will return from a hamstring injury which kept him out of last week’s Colchester defeat. Jordan Cook is a doubt with a hamstring injury, but Johnny Mullins is expected to be fit and Luke Gambin returns from international duty. Dan Potts, Jack Senior, Danny Green and Cameron McGeehan remain out.
