Pool Head To South Wales
Fixture | Newport County vs Blackpool
Date | 18 March 2017
Venue | Rodney Parade
Seven games unbeaten with momentum building, Blackpool travel to Newport County looking to break into the play-offs positions with another three points.
The Seasiders have taken 10 points from the last 12 available, and beat promotion rivals Stevenage in mid-week to pull themselves closer to the chasing pack.
A second double of the season is on the cards for Pool, who beat Newport 4-1 back in November, but The Exiles are battling to avoid the drop from League Two.
Former Blackpool midfielder Mike Flynn is now in charge at Newport and has won both games since taking over from Graham Westley last week.
Mark Cullen’s penalty was enough to see off Stevenage on Tuesday evening. Blackpool previously beat Plymouth Argyle and drew with Wycombe Wanderers on the road, where their form is continually improving.
Newport also won with a spot kick at Morecambe on Tuesday, when Ryan Bird converted from 12 yards. Last Saturday they won 2-1 at Crewe Alexandra, ending a run of seven matches without victory.
Gary Bowyer will monitor Jordan Flores and Brad Potts prior to naming his side on Saturday. Jim McAlister and Kyle Vassell remain on the sidelines.
Newport will be without the suspended Mitchell Rose. Mark Randall is expected to come into contention, but the game comes too soon for Ben Tozer.
