Pool Host In-Form Side
Fixture | Blackpool vs Stevenage
Date | 14 March 2017
Venue | Bloomfield Road
Momentum is building as Blackpool continue to close in on the play-off places and victory over Stevenage would fire them further into the mix with nine games remaining.
The Seasiders have taken seven points from their last nine available and now sit three points off the top seven, with a number of sides going head-to-head at the top tonight.
Unbeaten in six on home soil and having won on their last Bloomfield Road outing, Blackpool will look to make it a fortress, with six of the remaining ten games coming at home.
Stevenage will provide a stern test however, having won eight of their previous nine matches, drawing the other, meaning they arrive as the form side in League Two.
Blackpool were held by Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, but would have taken all three points had Brad Potts converted from the penalty spot. Prior to that draw The Seasiders beat Morecambe and Plymouth Argyle.
Stevenage continued their good form with an impressive win at Luton Town on Saturday, thanks to strikes from Luke Wilkinson and Ben Kennedy. They’ve recently beaten Leyton Orient and Notts County by three-goal margins.
Gary Bowyer welcomes goalkeeper Sam Slocombe back into his squad. Neil Danns returned from injury at the weekend and comes into contention to start. Jim McAlister and Kyle Vassell remain out.
Stevenage goalkeeper Jamie Jones returns from a three-match ban on Tuesday. Fraser Franks missed Saturday’s game with a knock, while his replacement Ronnie Henry was substituted through injury. Josh McQuoid is back in contention after being unable to face his parent club on Saturday.
