Bowyer: Reproduce Strong Form

13 May 2017

Manager Relishing Play-Off Fixtures Against Luton Town

Gary Bowyer is looking for his players to replicate the impressive form that has seen his side reach the play-offs in forthcoming fixtures against Luton Town.

The Seasiders finished the regular season in seventh place last weekend to keep alive hopes of a promotion, having been in 15th position back in February.

That surge up the table and momentum from it is something the manager is keen to build on ahead of a two-legged affair with The Hatters, which starts with the home tie at Bloomfield Road tomorrow.

"We've got to try and produce the performances that we've done this season, especially in the last 15 games," Bowyer told the official website. "Our form over those last 15 games has been particularly impressive, so we've got to focus on what we've done well and take that into the games."

Luton, who finished fourth in Sky Bet League Two, will start favourites for the contest given their last two results against Blackpool, however it took a 90th minute winner to separate the sides last time out.

"It puts them as favourites, it certainly does that," the manager admitted. "But what I've been pleased with is the progression from the first time we played them to the second game, and the progression we've continued since that second game as a team."

The Blackpool dressing room has several experienced heads who are used to pressure situations, while last week's result against Leyton Orient offered an insight into how the players cope when needing to win.

"Last week's game was a great learning curve for us because we had to play under pressure in the game to get into the play-offs. That environment now is what we're entering, and it's a case of taking the learning from that and applying it to these two games," Bowyer added.

The manager could welcome back Jamille Matt for the first leg following his recovery from a hamstring problem, meaning Jim McAlister is the only absentee from the squad.

Tickets remain on sale for both games, though tickets for the second leg are only on sale to season ticket holders and members until Monday.
