Supporter Consultation Leads To Decision
Blackpool Football Club recently consulted its supporters, via a poll on the official website, to ascertain views on the future format of the Checkatrade Trophy.
The result of that poll revealed that 62 per cent of those voting wanted a return to the previous 48-team format.
The club, having taken this opinion on board, has therefore informed the EFL that it would like the 48-team format on a straight knockout basis to be restored.
All League One and Two clubs had until 10am yesterday to submit their vote on the direction of the competition, in relation to the 2017-18 and 2018-19 campaigns.
The club now awaits the outcome of the overall vote.
