Striker Looking Forward To Second Leg
While delighted with his and Blackpool's work on Sunday evening, Mark Cullen is keeping his feet firmly on the ground at the halfway stage of the play-off semi-final with Luton Town.
The striker enjoyed a night to remember, hitting a hat-trick against his former club to give The Seasiders a slender one-goal lead heading to Kenilworth Road.
Having enjoyed his performance in front of the Sky Sports cameras, Cullen was quick to regain focus and turn his attention to Thursday evening.
“We managed to get a good result and I’ve nicked three goals so I can’t complain too much,” he said. “But we’ve got to focus and get ready for Thursday.
“We’ll go down there and we’re under no allusions it’s going to be a tough game so we’ll have to be right at it again. They finished fourth in the league for a reason, they’re a good, strong side.
“They’ll be right at it come Thursday night so we’ll have to be up for it ourselves.”
Cullen gave The Seasiders the lead, fired a stunner to bring them back level and won the first leg from the penalty spot, to mark a terrific personal and team performance.
“Me and ‘Vass’ (Kyle Vassell) tried to have a little link up and it ricocheted to me so I thought I’d hit it hard and low. The goalkeeper had a little fumble but it got me up and running.
“We knew at half-time we were still in the game and we’d make more chances, and I manages to curl one into the top corner early doors which was nice.
“Then, to get my hat-trick from the penalty spot was really nice and I’m looking forward to Thursday now,” he added.
