Manager Praises Armfield's Input
Gary Bowyer says club legend Jimmy Armfield has been a big help in his time at Bloomfield Road so far, offering plenty of knowledge and wisdom.
The club's record appearance holder, who captained both Blackpool and England, is in regular dialogue with the manager, who has ensured that the first-team squad are fully briefed on his achievements in tangerine.
"He's been fantastic for me ever since I've arrived - the first day I was here he rang me up and wished me all the best. We then met at the training ground and had a good chat down there," Bowyer revealed.
"He talks with so much passion about the football club and throughout the season he's given me his advice and advised me where I can get better myself, which has been greatly received.
"We've also brought him in and he's met the lads because I think it's important that they understand who he is, what he represents and how important he's been to this football club."
Conversations have also been had about the club's play-off matches against Luton, with Jimmy offering a few suggestions for the manager to consider.
"He rang me before the game and we had a chat about it, then he was on the phone on Monday morning giving me his feedback because unfortunately he wasn't able to come and see it. He was able to watch it on the TV and gave me a few hints and tips and told me what to do," he added.
