Match Preview: Luton Town - Play-Offs (H)

13 May 2017

First Leg At Bloomfield Road

Fixture | Blackpool vs Luton Town
Date | 14 May 2017
Venue | Bloomfield Road

After 46 games of hard graft, it all comes down to the play-offs for Blackpool and first a two-legged affair with Luton Town, starting at Bloomfield Road on Sunday.

The Hatters finished in fourth, seven points ahead of Pool, but Gary Bowyer’s men go into the tie in high spirits having secured their play-off spot on the final day.

Victory over Leyton Orient confirmed a season extension for The Seasiders and now they’ll bank on every bit of promotion experience in their squad when trying to reach Wembley.

Luton arrive at Bloomfield Road having finished the season strongly themselves, meaning they missed out on automatic promotion by eight points.

Current Form
Blackpool beat Orient 3-1 last weekend, with Neil Danns, Mark Cullen and Andy Taylor all on target. Previously they’d beaten Doncaster Rovers and Cheltenham Town, meaning a defeat to Notts County counted for little.

Luton have won their previous three matches, against Notts County, Accrington Stanley and Morecambe. Away from home they’ve won nine times this season, including at Bloomfield Road in December.

Team News
Bowyer confirmed Jamille Matt returned to training on Friday and comes into contention having missed he previous three matches with a hamstring injury. Jim McAlister remains out, but otherwise they have a fully-fit squad to select from.

Nathan Jones will assess highly-rated James Justin, after he was stretchered off with an Achilles problem last weekend.  Alan Sheehan also missed the game but is expected to return. Their big boost comes in the form of Danny Hylton however, with the 26-goal striker back from a two-match suspension.
