Play-Off Semi-Final Hits Climax
Fixture | Luton Town vs Blackpool
Date | 18 May 2017
Venue | Kenilworth Road
Blackpool's season all comes down to tonight and they will take plenty of confidence from Sunday’s victory over Luton Town when travelling to Kenilworth Road for their play-off semi-final second leg.
The Seasiders currently hold a single-goal lead, after edging out The Hatters 3-2 in front of the Sky Sports Cameras at Bloomfield Road.
Mark Cullen hit a hat-trick in an exhilarating affair typical of the play-offs and Gary Bowyer will be hoping for the more of the same in their bid to come out on top over two legs.
On the road this season Pool have won at Carlisle United, Plymouth Argyle and Doncaster Rovers, so know they can produce on the important stage.
Luton, who finished fourth in the regular season, led at half-time before being pegged back on Sunday and now host Pool for a battle off to face either Exeter City or Carlisle in the final.
The Seasiders entered the play-offs in good form, having won three of their previous four games. Cullen’s hat-trick continued the good feeling around Bloomfield Road and a ninth away win of the season would be just the tonic for Bowyer.
Luton themselves went into the play-offs on the back of three victories, coming against Notts County, Accrington Stanley and Morecambe, and they’ll be keen to bounce back from the reverse at Bloomfield Road.
Kyle Vassell is expected to be fit to face The Hatters, after being withdrawn in the second-half on Sunday. Jamille Matt and Colin Daniel are back fit and come into contention for the trip. Jim McAlister remains the only long-term injury.
Alan Sheehan and James Justin were both fit to start on Sunday, despite pre-match doubts, so will be available once again on Thursday. Danny Green is expected to be Luton’s only absentee.
