Gary Bowyer says the Blackpool squad could well be boosted by the return of Kyle Vassell on Saturday, after the striker returned to training.
The forward, who has six goals so far this season, has missed The Seasiders’ last four matches in all competitions.
“The good news is that Kyle Vassell has trained this week so we’re hoping he comes through today’s session and goes into the squad for the weekend, which will be great for him going back to his old club,” the manager confirmed.
In Vassell’s absence a number of different striking options have been tried up top, yet opportunities haven’t necessarily been taken.
“The disappointing thing for me is that when there has been an opportunity, from an attacking point of view, nobody other than Danny Philliskirk in the two cup games, has put a case forward.
“I’ve said this to the players themselves, it’s about putting evidence together. For a striker, it’s about scoring goals and playing well. We’re just disappointed that we haven’t had that from the striking department. Hopefully one or two might now kick on,” Bowyer added.
