Sean Longstaff is relishing the opportunity of playing in the Emirates FA Cup for the first time on Saturday.
The on-loan Newcastle United midfielder has been an avid watcher of the competition down the years and Is determined to avoid an upset when Blackpool face Boreham Wood at Meadow Park.
“I played in the youth cups when I was younger but never got a chance in the proper competition. I’m looking forward to it, I think all the lads here are because it’s something a little bit different from the league.
“We’ve got to go there and make sure that we do everything properly and try and prevent an upset,” he said.
The 20-year-old heads into the match having rediscovered his goalscoring form against Middlesbrough’s Under-21s in the Checkatrade Trophy last night.
His latest strike, which was his fifth of the campaign, was another from outside the box.
“It felt good to get back on the score-sheet, I started off pretty well and then sort of hit a little bit of a dry spell. It’s always nice to score and obviously to win as well.
“It’s only since I’ve come here that I’ve started scoring from outside the box, but I’ll take them any way I can,” he added.
