Kyle Vassell couldn’t hide his disappointment after a dominant Blackpool performance only amounted to a point at Bloomfield Road.
The Seasiders registered 22 shots at goal against Gillingham last night but were unable to put the game to bed, leaving Tom Eaves to head in an equaliser late on.
“We’re disappointed not to be bringing all three points in. It’s a frustrating one,” Vassell said.
“We needed to take the chances and score the goals to give the defenders a bit of rest-bite. We didn’t do that, and unfortunately that cost us. We could have put the game out of sight.”
It was Vassell who had earlier given Blackpool the lead in the fixture, sending a powerful drive into the bottom corner to score his eighth goal of the campaign.
“It fell nice; there wasn’t much of the goal to aim for so I just tried to put my foot through it. I’m grateful that it went in, but I want to be taking three points,” he admitted.
His return to the side since a four-match injury absence has proved significant on the field, with his strikes in the last two games helping the team pick up four points.
“No one wants to be injured and get injuries but it’s part and parcel of the game, especially with the way I play. I need to learn to manage myself better, but I’ll always look after myself and make sure that I come back as good as I can be,” he added.
