Gary Bowyer says he’ll have a bottle of red waiting for Rochdale manager Keith Hill this evening, as a thank you for helping him while out of the game.
His opposite number is someone he has a great amount of respect for, and he hasn’t forgotten the favour Hill did for him a couple of years back.
“Keith is a top manager, in my opinion. He’s done very well over the years there and he looked after me once or twice when I was sacked by Blackburn. He got me a couple of tickets for their games and took me in before the game and had a chat with me in his office. You remember things like that,” Bowyer said.
“I’ll have a bottle of red wine for him to thank him for that. Hopefully it’s a good game of football from both teams.”
Blackpool go in to the game against Rochdale aiming to maintain a fantastic start to the season at home, though the manager is keen to see his side quickly respond to Saturday’s disappointing defeat at Bristol Rovers.
“It was just the manner of the defeat a little bit. We made a wonderful start, scored a fantastic goal and didn’t kick on from that. That was the disappointing thing,” he said.
“The players came in yesterday, trained well and the reaction has been good. I’m just delighted that there is a game so quickly. I’m convinced that we’ll have a reaction in our performance.”
