Bowyer: Up Against A Well Coached Side

Manager Content With Point Against Rochdale

26 September 2017

Gary Bowyer says he was proud of the way his side went about their task against Rochdale tonight, despite being left to settle for a goal-less draw.

The manager got the exact response he wanted from his players in response to Saturday’s loss at Bristol Rovers and was pleased with the attitude on display.

Speaking post-match, here’s what he had to say…

The point.

I thought it was a fantastic point. The performance levels were terrific and the response that we got from the players, their attitude, was really good. I was really pleased with how they’ve gone about it and proud of them because we were up against a very well coached and experienced League One team.

Two big chances.

When the games are as tight as that, you’ve got to take the chances. The goalie has made a good save from Sessi’s one and I think Viv has got to score at the back post. That’s the next stage of his game, he’s got to add goals to his game.

Rochdale’s pressing game.

Full credit to Rochdale, that’s the hardest a team has come against us pressing, not just the first-half but the whole second-half they continued that. Our players looked to find the answers all the time, so I’m really delighted with how they’ve gone about it. That will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season.

Injuries.

We’ll get them in tomorrow and recover and see where we are for Friday and travelling to Southend.
