Goals from Colin Daniel, Jimmy Ryan and Nathan Delfouneso helped Blackpool secure their first win on the road this season with a 3-1 victory at Plymouth Argyle.
The Seasiders made a quick start to the encounter and took the lead inside two minutes, though Sonny Bradley levelled early in the second-half, prior to Plymouth’s Ryan Edwards being sent off for a second bookable offence.
It was then left to captain Ryan and Delfouneso to make the advantage count by finding the net from range.
Manager Gary Bowyer stuck with the same side that picked up a point against Scunthorpe United on the weekend, while the bench was bolstered by the returns of Sean Longstaff and Nathan Delfouneso from injury and illness, respectively.
The Seasiders started the game on the front foot and took the lead inside two minutes. Colin Daniel received the ball short from a corner and watched his strike take a wicked deflection before finding the back of the net.
In the driving rain and swirling wind, The Seasiders continued to play their usual passing game and carved out another good opportunity in the 14th minute. Viv Solomon-Otabor played a quick, one-two with Callum Cooke but could only fire the return ball straight at Luke McCormick.
Danger at the other end came from a Plymouth corner three minutes later, with a swerving ball into the six yard-box begging for a significant touch. Fortunately for Blackpool, the ball ended up dropping wide for a goal kick.
Kyle Vassell, who was once again leading the line well, muscled his way in on the two Plymouth centre-backs shortly after but could only head the ball into the path of the ‘keeper.
Set-piece delivery continued to offer the home side a way back into the contest, with Nathan Blissett heading a free-kick over the bar.
A few Blackpool players were slipping over on the surface due to the constant downpours of rain, though Clark Robertson and Curtis Tilt held firm in the defensive line to head further cross away from goal.
Yann Songo’o then hit a frustrated strike from distance over the bar, prior to Blackpool seeing out the lead until the interval.

It was the home side who started the second-half strongly and almost equalised in the 47th minute, however Sonny Bradley headed over from eight-yards out.
Nadir Ciftci then tested Ryan Allsop, who was forced to tip his effort round the post. From the resulting corner came the equaliser, as Sonny Bradley put pressure on his marker to head the ball in the back of the net.
Blackpool introduced Sean Longstaff for Sessi D’Almeida before the hour mark as they looked to get back on the attack.
Seven minutes later the home side were reduced to 10 men, after Ryan Edwards received a second yellow card for bringing down Kyle Vassell.
It wasn’t long until Blackpool made that man advantage count by restoring their lead. Captain Jimmy Ryan received the ball 25-yards out from goal, took a stride forward and then found the bottom corner to score his first goal for the club.
Substitute Nathan Delfouneso then made it three with four minutes of normal time remaining. The striker ran clear into space with two men in support and found the bottom corner with a strike from distance.
Blackpool survived a late scare when Ryan Allsop was penalised for a back pass, however the defence dealt with it and saw the result out.
