Gary Bowyer says back-to-back wins have made a massive difference for Blackpool, with The Seasiders now targeting a third victory against Fleetwood Town.
Six points, eight goals and two clean sheets have resulted in the team moving up to 13th in the Sky Bet League One table and looking to finish the campaign in the top half.
“There’s 12 points to play for and I want us to get as many of those points as we can get. We want to finish the season off strongly,” the manager insisted.
“When you get back-to-backs it makes a massive difference in the league position. It’s disappointing that it’s taken so long to do that since September, but we’ve got to keep on top of the players and keep demanding more from them.”
The clean sheets kept against Bradford City and Northampton Town took Blackpool’s tally to eight since Joe Lumley arrived on loan from QPR in January. It’s fair to say his impact has been vital.
“I can’t speak highly enough of the ‘keeper, we tried to get him at the beginning of the season and he’s an exciting prospect. He’s got to keep working hard because there’s still areas of his game where he’s got to improve, but he’s made a big difference since January. The partnership of Curtis Tilt and Clark Robertson has also been phenomenal,” Bowyer said.
Blackpool’s penultimate home game of the season comes against a rejuvenated Fleetwood tomorrow, with John Sheridan having an immediate impact on results.
“John Sheridan has done fantastically well. He’s got a good group of players and they were in the play-offs last year so we’re aware of that.
“But it’s all about what we do and playing with the same intensity we’ve shown in our performance against Bradford and Northampton,” Bowyer added.
