Nathan Delfouneso wasn’t too concerned by the delay prior to his equalising goal against Shrewsbury Town, given that it eventually counted.
The forward found the net for Blackpool with a 56th minute header, however the linesman’s flag went up mid-celebration. It led to a lengthy discussion between the referee and his assistant, with the former happy for the goal to stand.
“The scoreboard says it was a goal, and that’s all that matters,” Delfouneso said. “I’m not bothered how it happened or what the debate was. As long as it counted, that’s all that matters to me.”
The goal was Delfouneso’s ninth of the season and fifth in the last five matches. He’s not one for resting on his laurels, though.
“I always want to improve, and there’s still a lot more to come. I’m kind of in a bit of form at the minute so I don’t want the season to end,” he added.
