Kelvin Mellor was delighted to return to the Blackpool side with a cameo appearance and goal against Gillingham.
The right-back, who has been utilised further forward on occasions this season, ended a near two-month absence due to ankle ligament damage by featuring for 20 minutes in the 3-0 victory.
“It was great just to be back out there, to be honest. The goal was a bonus. I thought we controlled the game, especially first-half and then in the second-half we had to dig in a bit,” he said.
“It’s been five plus weeks now (with the injury) and I’m willing to give it all I can until the end of the season and see where it takes us. There’s only two games left but we’ll take the momentum and look to carry on as we left off.”
The goal was Mellor’s seventh of the campaign and followed instructions from the manager to gamble when playing more advanced.
“The gaffer always goes on about the opposite winger trying to get in the box and get on the end of things. It was an open goal and Armand did well to pull it back,” he added.
