Terry McPhillips admits to having something of a selection dilemma on his hands ahead of tomorrow’s match at Shrewsbury Town.
Pool’s interim boss watched a much-changed Pool side record a 3-1 Carabao Cup victory against Barnsley in midweek, with all those involved taking their opportunities to impress.
“It just shows how close the competition is. You can take two or three out and put two or three in and it not look much different, but we changed eight and it probably looked better on that night,” McPhillips said.
“It’s back to the league on Saturday and a tough game at Shrewsbury. I’m sure there’ll be some changes again and I’m sure, whoever we choose, will give it a right, good go and the subs, who have been superb so far, will come on and make a difference again.”
Blackpool’s progression in the cup means that games will come thick and fast for the next month, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
“If you ask the lads, they’d rather be playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday. We’ve got good numbers – though we need two or three more – and these games are good to be involved in.”
As for strengthening the squad for the games ahead, McPhillips confirmed that work continues on that front.
“We’re on with some targets, though we’ve only got a few weeks left now. We’ll see where that takes us,” he added.
