Terry McPhillips hailed a great night’s work after Blackpool came back from behind to beat Barnsley 3-1 in the Carabao Cup.
Goals from Michael Nottingham, Harry Pritchard and Armand Gnanduillet turned the tie around and got The Seasiders fully up and running for the campaign.
Speaking post-match, here’s what Pool’s interim manager he had to say…
I thought they were superb. I thought first-half we were good, it was open first-half and they’ve got some good players. I thought we got done by a wonder goal. They stuck together and the defending was superb.
The two non-league lads (Nottingham and Pritchard) have scored their first goals in senior football and in the second-half we were awesome.
We made eight changes and they only made six, so all in all it’s a great night’s work.
That’s Donervon’s first game for a while and Tilty hasn’t played as much as he would have wanted because of illness and transfer speculation. The attitude, the application and the spirit amongst the lads was there for all to see.
Rotation of the squad.
Nearly every outfield player has had a go now. Fin Sinclair-Smith is the only one who hasn’t, and he’s been very good. The plan was to get him on the pitch if we could, but it didn’t quite work for him tonight because the game decides a little bit. I’m really pleased and there’s a headache for Saturday with the selection.
