Terry McPhillips says the Blackpool players have responded well following the initial disappointment of seeing manager Gary Bowyer depart the club this week.
McPhillips, who was placed in interim charge on Monday evening, has tried to keep the focus on tomorrow’s match against Portsmouth and has been impressed with the professionalism in the squad.
“That’s life and football, we all sort of know that, and we’ve all got to move on,” he said of the manager’s departure. “The players have responded really well.
“We’ve done the same things we would have done as if Gary was here and, as I say, the lads have responded well.
“What they’ve said in their performances in training is let’s get out there and play and have a right, good go against Portsmouth on Saturday.”
The 18-man squad for the match is expected to be similar to that of last weekend against Portsmouth, with Jimmy Ryan and Ryan McLaughlin unlikely to be risked just yet.
“They’ve been out there running and that’s good. I’m not sure if this weekend will be too soon for them, but it’s nice to see them running about,” McPhillips added.
