Terry McPhillips expects Blackpool’s encounter with Barnsley tomorrow to be much different from the meeting between the sides earlier this season.
On that night both sides made numerous changes, as The Seasiders came back to secure a place in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
This time the two clubs will be aiming to keep up pushes for the play-offs and will name starting line-ups as strong as possible, injury permitting.
“We played them in the cup, obviously, but both teams made a lot of changes that day. It was the turning point of the season, if you like, because it was our first win and first win at home. We went in at half-time 1-0 down having not done a lot wrong, then in the second-half we were different class,” the manager said.
“They will have a stronger team out than they did against us last time. No doubt it will be a tough game – they have the high press and have the big centre-forward (Kieffer Moore) who is about 6 foot 6 and runs around and competes, as well as Pottsy who was with us. They’ve got some good players and lots of them played in The Championship last season.
“But they’ll have a hard game as well. We’ve recovered from Tuesday night and the lads know that there will be one or two places up for grabs. It’ll be a case of showing us what you’re made of in training and trying to stake a claim.”
