Despite Nathan Shaw halving the deficit going into half-time, Blackpool were on the end of a 6-2 defeat to Rochdale on Saturday.
Four second-half goals for the visitors put the game out of sight for the under-18s, whose other effort also came courtesy of Shaw.
It was Blackpool who attempted the first attack of the game. Shaw had a free run with the ball from the halfway line, from which he was able to slide in Will McGladdery, but Rochdale defended well and shielded the ball out of play.
Shaw was pulling the strings in midfield. This time he played a through ball to Sean Graham, he crossed from the by-line towards Ewan Bange at the back post, but the strong wind took the ball out of play.
Again, Shaw picked up the ball in midfield and tried his luck from range, his effort skimming the top of the crossbar.
Blackpool had the better of the chances, but it was Rochdale who scored the first goal of the game. Aaron Turner attempted to clear the ball out of defence, but the ball hit the back of Hopper and found its way past Sam Kellett and into the net.
Rochdale then almost had a second, but Kellett produced an outstanding save to deny Hopper.
Dale did get their second of the game soon after. A throw-in was taken on the left towards an away shirt and a square ball was then played across the area to Tavares, who turned the ball home.
Blackpool won a free-kick in their own half which Will Avon took. He pumped a ball over the top of Rochdale’s defence towards McGladdery, he took the ball down, turned the defender and shot just wide of the post.
Then up the other end Tavares took a shot from the edge of the area, the ball beat Kellett but it couldn’t beat the woodwork.
On the stroke of half-time, Nathan Shaw pulled one back for Blackpool. He won the ball back outside of the 18-yard box, turned and fired into the bottom, right corner.
Half-Time: Blackpool 1 Rochdale 2
Five minutes after the interval, Rochdale had a third. Kellett couldn’t hold a shot from the edge of the area and Tavares was there to tap the ball into the net.
Not long after, Blackpool got another goal back through Nathan Shaw. Sam Maddox played a short pass to Shaw, he danced his way through the Rochdale defence and found the bottom corner again.
Shaw was everywhere. This time he whipped a corner in, the ball was met by Avon who headed towards goal, but he saw his effort cleared off the line.
Rochdale then had a fourth. A corner was put into the area, Hamzat met the ball and headed towards goal. Sky Sinclair tried to clear the ball, but the header was too strong, and the ball ended up in the back of the net.
A fifth then followed. A free-kick just outside the area was taken by White and he curled the ball around the wall and past Kellett.
Firmly putting the game out of sight for Blackpool, Rochdale scored their sixth and final goal. The ball bounced around in the area after Kellett denied Hopper, but the ball fell to Yonsian who tucked home the rebound.
