Gary Bowyer insists there is still more to come from his players following a 2-0 victory at Portsmouth this afternoon.
The manager watched his team extend their unbeaten run in Sky Bet League One to five matches and become the first Blackpool side to win at Fratton Park since 1971.
Speaking post-match, here’s what he had to say…
We went about the game in the right way to play. I was extremely pleased with the overall performance. We’ve just got to try and back it up now and keep going for the remaining 12 games.
I still believe there’s more to come from us, I think we could have been a lot more clinical, especially first-half with the opportunities that we created. But we managed the game well second-half.
Vassell back amongst the goals on return.
It will do him the world of good. For him now, he’s got to push on, he’s got over the injury and he looks strong. He’s got areas of his game that he still needs to develop, but we were pleased with how he went about it. It’s a wonderful finish from him.
Robertson on the score-sheet.
We’ve spoken to him and Tilty about scoring more goals. It’s a simple fact that you have to do that. I had a joke with him in the dressing room before the game because his dad travels from Aberdeen to come and watch him, and it’s important that he gives him something to cheer about. I’m delighted that he’s done that.
We’ve had 264 supporters here and they’ve made themselves heard. I just hope they are enjoying themselves now on the journey back. It was a fantastic effort.
