Gary Bowyer was a frustrated man after watching his Blackpool side suffer a late 1-0 defeat at Oxford United.
Having watched his side dominate proceedings and create numerous opportunities, the manager was left to rue a lack of ruthlessness in the final third, as well as an unnecessary free-kick that was given away and led to Jon Obika scoring the winner.
Speaking post-match, here’s what he had to say…
Not clinical enough.
We’ve come here and played ever so well but we’ve been not been able to punish them when we’ve had our opportunities, and the goal that they’ve got is poor.
The goalkeeper has pulled out some wonderful saves and he’s capable of doing that, but we’ve got to have done better than we have done in front of goal. The manner of the free-kick we’ve given is also poor from us.
Positive display tinged with concern.
We had a great opportunity with the way that we played, but we haven’t been able to see it through and that’s the concern with today’s performance.
