Joe Lumley is hoping to build on a solid debut for Blackpool and further showcase his abilities during his time on loan with the club.
The goalkeeper, who signed for The Seasiders on a temporary deal from QPR earlier this week, kept a clean sheet at Shrewsbury Town in midweek and made a number of important saves.
“I showed what I can do out there. The gaffer likes to play out from the back and I think that’s a strong point of my game. I tried to do that as much as I could and I made a few saves as well,” the 22-year-old said.
No stranger to spending time out in loan in order to enhance his development, Lumley made a big impression playing for tomorrow’s visitors Bristol Rovers last season.
“I’m looking forward to the weekend,” he admitted. “I had a really good time there, it’s a really good club.
“I’m at a stage of my career where I’ve got to keep getting games out on loan. I thought I did really well last season and hopefully I can do better here.”
Lumley’s loan move to Blackpool came with the blessing of former Pool boss Ian Holloway, who has selected the stopper on the bench in numerous Championship matches this season.
“He gave me his best wishes. He’s a good guy and I’ve learnt loads from him since he’s been at the club, and he obviously took Blackpool up when he was here,” Lumley added.
