Joe Lumley says he’s settled in well at Blackpool, having kept two clean sheets in his first two appearances for the club.
The 22-year-old has proved to be a calming influence at the back following his arrival from QPR, and is loving how the manager’s playing philosophy matches his own.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far. I’ve played two games, kept two clean sheets and I like the way we play, the way that the manager sets up and likes to play out from the back. It suits me well,” he admitted.
Lumley’s league debut for The Seasiders last weekend turned out to be a significant one, with the clean sheet being Blackpool’s first in the league for two months, and first at home for four months.
“It was massive. The boys have been saying that we haven’t kept a clean sheet since September at home. It was good to come in for that first league game and keep a clean sheet, but it wasn’t just me, it was the whole team. The back five were brilliant in that game.”
Attentions are now firmly focused on a match at AFC Wimbledon tomorrow, with Lumley expecting a tough test at Kingsmeadow.
“I’ve played there before and it’s quite a tight ground. The fans are on top of you. It will be a tough game because they’re quite a physical side but I feel we can go there, play well and hopefully get the three points,” he added.
