Match Preview: Charlton Athletic (H)

Seasiders Set For Emotional Occasion

26 January 2018

Fixture | Blackpool vs Charlton Athletic – Date | Saturday 27 January – Venue | Bloomfield Road

It will be an emotional occasion at Bloomfield Road tomorrow, as the club pays tribute to its record appearance holder and Vice-President Jimmy Armfield.

The laying of wreaths and a minute's applause will take place prior to kick-off, with the team then looking to get the right result for the legendary right-back.

Last Time Out:

Blackpool lost in disappointing circumstances against AFC Wimbledon last weekend, with Liam Trotter and Joe Pigott on target for the home side. Manager Gary Bowyer will be looking for the right reaction from his players to that 2-0 defeat.

Charlton recorded a 3-1 victory over Walsall last Saturday, with Stephy Mavididi's goal wrapping up all three points late on.

Team News:

Curtis Tilt returns from suspension to bolster the Blackpool back-line, though Mark Cullen (hamstring) and Jim McAlister (bone bruising) remain sidelined. On-loan Burnley man Dan Agyei could make his home debut.

The visitors expect to have Patrick Bauer available, however the match may come a week too soon for Jason Pearce. New signing Michal Zyro could debut for The Addicks.

Match Betting Odds:

Blackpool Win - 7/5
Draw - 12/5
Charlton Win - 19/10

Revenue from home ticket sales for this match will be donated to Trinity Hospice, which provided compassionate care for Jimmy Armfield in his final days. Jimmy was also President of the Hospice.
