McAlister: Brilliant To Be Back

Midfielder Marks Return After 11 Months Out

11 January 2018

Jim McAlister was pleased to end an extremely frustrating period in his career with a return to first-team action against Shrewsbury Town last night.

The midfielder, who fractured his tibia against Colchester United 11 months ago, replaced Sessi D’Almeida for the final half-hour of the club’s Checkatrade Trophy tie at Montgomery Waters Meadow.

Though The Seasiders went on to lose the match on penalties, the cameo from McAlister was extremely significant.

“It was brilliant. It’s been long, hard at times, with some setbacks in between, but to finally get back on the pitch, after a few months of training to be fair, was good,” McAlister said. “Unfortunately we never got the result in the end, though.”
