Armand Gnanduillet insists he’s happy to be back playing for Blackpool after what he describes as ‘a crazy holiday’.
The French striker was all set to play in South Africa for the forthcoming campaign, however circumstances changed and he opted to return to Bloomfield Road, having previously been offered a new contract last season.
“It has been a crazy holiday for me but now I’m back, and I’m glad to be back here. I can’t wait to go forward this year and I’m very focused to play for Blackpool and give everything, like I always did,” Gnanduillet said.
The time he spent out in South Africa, training with Baroka FC, means he isn’t too far off fitness wise for the new season, though he acknowledges that he still has two weeks remaining to reach the standard required.
“I was fit, but I need more,” he admitted. “When I came back we worked with Phil (Greenwood) and the other lads and it’s not finished because we still have two weeks of pre-season.”
When the big kick-off comes around, the 26-year-old will be aiming to recapture the form he displayed in the final months of the campaign and press on further.
“I wasn’t the only player to finish the season strong. It’s about carrying on the same way and working on my strengths and my weaknesses, too, to be a better player,” he added.
