Blackpool Football Club can confirm that Jay Spearing has agreed a new two-year deal at Bloomfield Road.
The midfielder, who initially joined the club in October 2017, made 35 appearances for The Seasiders last season, as the team ended the campaign in 12th place.
Having previously played for Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers, the 29-year-old’s experience and know-how has proved to be invaluable in the dressing room.
Manager Gary Bowyer said:
“I’m delighted that Jay has agreed a new deal. Alongside Jimmy Ryan, he had a terrific influence on the team last season and struck up a solid partnership in midfield. His ability and character will once again be vital for us on-and-off the pitch.”
Jay Spearing added:
“We were talking all over the summer and with my wedding coming up and a busy time sorting that, the gaffer was very kind to let me get married first and then come down and discuss things. I’m delighted to sign for an extra two years.
“The main thing I wanted to do this season is to get back in straight away, as soon as the lads came in, and get a full pre-season under my belt and kick-on from there.”
