Kelvin Mellor is making good progress in his efforts to return to the Blackpool side, manager Gary Bowyer has confirmed.
The right-back has been out of action since sustaining ankle ligament damage in training last month.
However, initial fears of his campaign being over have been allayed and he's now preparing to make his comeback in the next few weeks.
"Kelvin was out on the pitch on Monday and again today, so that's been really positive," Bowyer said. "He's probably ahead of schedule, so we're delighted with that."
Meanwhile, the manager has also revealed that Mark Cullen is making inroads again in his own attempts to end a long injury lay-off.
"Mark's had another good week and if we can get him through this week, then there's a possibility of pushing him harder next week with a view to joining back in properly.
"That would be fantastic for him and obviously for us because what we have done this season is create chances and he's exactly what it says on the tin, a goalscorer that we've probably missed at times," Bowyer added.
