Gary Bowyer says the club’s youth team players are creating memories that will last them a lifetime.
A sensational run in the FA Youth Cup has resulted in the under-18s reaching the semi-finals of the competition, having beaten Blackburn Rovers 3-2 earlier this week.
“Throughout the course of this run they’ve been a credit to the football club,” the manager said.
“The way they went about it the other night was just phenomenal, the way that they played. It was richly deserved. The quality of the goals was fantastic and the celebrations at the end were just incredible.
“What they’re doing is creating memories that will last them for the rest of their lives. It’s a great time for them.”
The victory at Ewood Park has setup a two-legged tie against Arsenal and the opportunity for the players to play at The Emirates Stadium.
“It’s a fantastic story. John Murphy said the other night that the fairy-tale continues, and that’s what it’s been for them. What a wonderful place for them now to go and play football at The Emirates. As I say, it will stay with these lads for the rest of their lives,” Bowyer added.
