Trees To Be Planted In Memory of Former Players Who Died During WWI

To mark the centenary of the end of the First World War, Blackpool Football Club and Blackpool FC Community Trust, in partnership with the Woodlands Trust and The National Football Museum, will plant five trees to commemorate the sacrifice of five former players tomorrow (Thursday).

George Elmore, Arthur Evans, William Fiske, Benjamin Green and Fred Griffiths were all players who represented Blackpool Football Club who sadly, along with thousands of others, all fell during WWI. 

At a special service within the Fylde Memorial Arboretum and Community Woodland, club manager Terry McPhillips, Community Trust Chief Executive Ashley Hackett, Arboretum Manager Paul Binns, plus two Blackpool veterans, will plant a tree in memory of each player.

Supporters are welcome to attend the service, which is due to start at 3.30pm.
