Match Preview: Accrington Stanley

Final Checkatrade Trophy Group Stage Game Tonight

13 November 2018

Blackpool and Accrington Stanley meet for the second time this season tonight, as the Checkatrade Trophy group stage comes to a close.

The Seasiders know only a victory will do to keep their slim hopes of qualification for the last 32 alive, with Macclesfield also needing to beat West Brom's Under-21s on penalties to ensure Pool a passage to the next round.

Accrington, meanwhile, sit top of Northern Group C and will be aiming to secure that spot with at least a point at Bloomfield Road.

Team News:

Paudie O'Connor and Armand Gnanduillet will likely feature for Blackpool, having missed the club's last three and four games respectively due to suspension. Young goalkeeper Myles Boney is set to start between the sticks.

The visitors will once again make changes to their line-up for the match, with those who played in the competition against West Brom's Under-21s last week getting another run-out. Ross Sykes, who scored the winner in that game, will feature, as will on-loan Bolton forward Connor Hall.

Manager Views:

Terry McPhillips:

"We want to win the game. If that's enough for us, we'll see. It'll be another chance for one or two players to showcase themselves and try and get a place in the team for Saturday's game at Southend."

John Coleman:

"We want to try and keep on a winning streak - we have won our last two and hopefully we can get another win under our belts. The lads who have played in the Checkatrade so far have done really well, so it will be another opportunity for them."
