Terry McPhillips was pleased to his Blackpool side make it three wins on the spin last night, despite missing out on qualification for the second round of the Checkatrade Trophy.
The Seasiders recorded a 3-2 home victory against group leaders Accrington Stanley, however it was Macclesfield who progressed by claiming the second spot.
“All we could do was try and win, and we did. I was really pleased to get that win because that’s three on the bounce now in the league and cup,” McPhillips said.
“Results didn’t go for us and we’re out of that (the Checkatrade Trophy), but that’s the way it is. We’ve had a good run in the Carabao Cup and we now want to do well in the FA Cup.”
A brace from Joe Dodoo helped Blackpool fight back for the victory against Accrington, which came on the back of the on-loan Rangers man scoring at Exeter on Saturday.
“Fair play to him, I thought he was excellent on Saturday and he’s backed it up with his goals. His goals were really good and although he didn’t do as well as he did on Saturday, he’s staking a claim with three goals in one game and 60 minutes,” the manager added.
