Ollie Turton says his goal on Saturday was long overdue, as Blackpool recorded a 2-1 victory at Southend United.
The Seasiders’ utility man opened the scoring at Roots Hall to find the net for the first time since August 2017.
“It’s long overdue. I only got one last season and I was hoping to try and get a couple more this year. It’s come, but more importantly we got the win,” Turton said.
“Marc Bola put it on a plate for me. I knew he would put the ball across the ‘keeper and I thought I would just gamble. Luckily enough, I put it in.”
The result for the side made it four wins on the spin and moved Blackpool to seventh in the Sky Bet League One table. The victory was made all the more sweeter given the recent time spent on the road.
“The lads have done terrific given all the travelling to play as well as we have done. It’s the league we’re in, obviously there is a lot of travelling to do and that is part and parcel.
“We’ve got a really good squad here, but obviously we’ll just take it game-by-game. We don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves. If we keep putting performances out like that and getting wins, then who knows (what we can achieve).”
